Clicks Communicator Timeline Update
If you’ve been hovering over your inbox waiting for news on the Clicks Communicator, the wait is officially over. The team just dropped a major status update, and for those of us eager to get a new physical keyboard back under our thumbs, the news is exactly what we wanted to hear: Everything is on track.
Building a smartphone platform from the ground up is no small feat. Over the last several months, the Clicks team has been deep in the foundational phase of development. This is the complex engineering work that ensures the device operates reliably before the software and hardware demos take center stage.
The good news is that this phase is largely complete. The stage is now set for the more visible milestones ahead.
Clicks has laid out a clear trajectory leading up to the launch. Here is what the rest of the year looks like:
May: The team will begin sharing glimpses into the software, the interface, and the specific design decisions that make the device feel like a true Communicator.
June: Seeing is believing. Clicks will reveal working units to the public, staying true to the original Q2 commitment.
Q3: This period is reserved for testing and certifications. This is also when reservation holders will be invited to configure their orders, choosing a color, keyboard layout, and bonus covers.
Q4: Mass production begins and devices start shipping out to everyone who has a reservation.
More Than Just a Handset
One of the most interesting parts of this update is the mention of accessories. Clicks is working on a range of extra gear designed to complement the device. Throughout the coming months, the team plans to share behind the scenes content regarding industrial design and the intentional details that go into the Communicator ecosystem.
"You didn't just reserve a phone. You're part of why Communicator exists and we’re grateful you’re on this journey with us."
This update makes it clear that the "quiet" period of engineering is over. For those who miss the tactile click of a physical keyboard, the next few months are going to be very busy. Keep an eye out for those software previews in May.
