Galaxy Z Fold 7 Will Be The Thinnest Foldable According to Reliable Tipster Ice Universe
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is generating buzz for its rumored remarkably thin design. Reputable tech tipster Ice Universe has now tweeted the device will measure a mere 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when closed, potentially making it the slimmest folding phone available, even thinner than the Oppo Find N5's 4.2mm unfolded measurement.
This focus on achieving such a slender profile naturally leads to considerations about potential compromises. While a 4,400 mAh battery is anticipated for the Z Fold 7, questions arise about whether aspects like speaker quality, camera technology, or even battery capacity might be affected to attain this thinness. In the tweet, Ice Universe also stated that some new battery and charging tech is likely being used here as well. While that is interesting, it’s worth pointing out that Oppo has squeezed a much larger 5,600mAh cell into the Find N5 alongside much faster 80w charging at a thickness very similar to Samsung’s rumored achievement. Still, being thinner than the Find N5 might give Samsung a bit of an excuse for not pushing battery tech further.
The development of this device carries significant weight for Samsung's image and future strategy. Following an internal acknowledgment of a need to revitalize its technological edge back in October 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 represents a pivotal opportunity for Samsung to demonstrate a renewed commitment to innovation, moving beyond incremental improvements.
Should Samsung successfully launch a Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a 3.9mm thickness, it would unequivocally signal a bold step in pushing the physical limits of folding phone technology and underscore their dedication to pioneering design.
