Honor Magic V6 Photos Reveal Some Nice Upgrades
The momentum behind the Honor Magic V6 is hitting a fever pitch as real-world sightings replace the usual supply chain rumors. We have moved past the phase of ogling rumored spec sheets and into a stage where the hardware is being shown off in the hands of high-profile ambassadors, giving us a genuine sense of the device’s ergonomics and presence.
The first major reveal came through a set of high-production photos from a commercial shoot featuring actor Nicholas Tse. These shots provided an up-close look at a wine-red variant with a vegan leather finish, maintaining the bold, octagonal camera housing that has become a staple of Honor’s design language. From these images, it’s clear that Honor has done some work to reduce the thickness of their massive camera housing on the back of the device. You can also see a slight chamfer leading up to the camera bump to further disguise the bump.
Not long after those studio photos made the rounds, the Magic V6 surfaced again in a much more spontaneous environment. Olympic aerial skier Xu Mengtao was seen using the device during her gold medal celebrations, providing a "candid" look at the phone in the wild. In these images, you can once again see that reduced camera thickness. It also appears as though the V6 could be ever so slightly thinner than the already svelte V5.
While none of these images show off the crease of Honor’s latest foldable, there are rumors that some major progress has been made. In a post on Weibo, tech tipster Smart Pikachu wrote that the crease on the inner screen would be “traceless.” The new hinge technology is reportedly designed to redistribute the stress on the folding OLED panel more effectively, allowing for a flatter surface when the device is fully opened.
The technical story behind the Magic V6 is just as aggressive as its physical design. Beyond the quest for a "traceless" crease, Honor is reportedly packing in a massive battery that is over 7,000mAh for the China model. The global version is said to be still massive, but just shy of 7,000mAh. Either would set a new benchmark for endurance in the foldable category. Under the hood, we are looking at the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a confirmed support for 80W fast wired charging. On the photography front, early rumors pointed to a 200MP primary sensor, but those hints have since cooled off. I think a much safer bet is to assume the V6 will feature more or less the same camera setup as the V5, which was already excellent. One caveat is the addition of a color spectrum sensor to aid with color reproduction. There has also been word of a "multispectral" stylus that could add some serious utility to that expansive inner display. With a global debut expected at Mobile World Congress on March 1, we won't have to wait much longer to see if this hardware truly lives up to the hype.
