I Printed Moto's Tiny Razr Flex Foldable
You already know that I think the Moto Razr Fold is among the very best foldable phones on the market today. I really like it, but I would probably love it if it had that passport form factor similar to something like the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Fortunately, it seems like that is what Motorola is planning. Moto apparently has a Razr Flex coming, and I want to dive into what this device actually feels like in terms of size and usability.
To get a better idea, I grabbed a 3D model of the iPhone Duo, chopped off the camera bump, and scaled everything to match the rumored dimensions of the Razr Flex so I could 3D print a mockup.
Measuring the Razr Flex Mockup
My 3D print came out measuring roughly 148 millimeters across by about 109 millimeters tall. When folded closed, it sits right at about 75 millimeters across. It is a very close match for the rumored dimensions, and seeing it in person really drives home how tiny this phone is.
Comparing to Other Foldables and Slabs
Sliding the Galaxy Z Fold 8 into view shows just how much smaller the Razr Flex is by comparison. It is significantly shorter and narrower than Samsung's flagship foldable. Opening the print up and placing it on top of a Galaxy Z Fold 8 reveals a substantial difference. It is quite a bit shorter and more narrow, though it looks to remain close to a 4:3 aspect ratio.
When news of these dimensions first started circulating, a lot of people assumed this would basically be a Razr Flip phone that folds the other way. Laying it next to a Razr Plus 2025 shows that couldn't be further from the truth. They do not match at all. When you compare it to the current Razr Fold, it is obviously substantially shorter.
Motorola seems to be building out a clear lineup. You have your traditional flip style, this passport style fold, and then your large book style foldable device. Looking at the original Pixel Fold as a baseline, the Razr Flex carries a similar width when accounting for modern narrow bezels, but it loses a decent amount of height.
For another perspective, comparing the opened Razr Flex mockup to a traditional slab phone like the Galaxy S25 Ultra shows that the opened Flex nearly matches the S25 Ultra in height while offering significantly more screen width.
Who Is the Razr Flex For?
It is clear that for power users, this might feel entirely too small. Those users will likely stick with a full-sized Razr Fold or a Z Fold.
However, there is something weirdly charming about a phone this compact. For people with smaller hands who struggle with massive modern phones, this form factor offers something you can easily operate one-handed when closed. When you need a larger display for reading, texting, or casual video, you can open it up and immediately have more screen real estate than the largest slab phones on the market.
At rumored specs around 12.5 millimeters thick when folded and 215 grams, this thing is going to disappear into a pocket in a way that standard big foldables just can't.
