New Oppo Find N5 Images Show Impressive Camera Bump
We are once again talking about the Oppo Find N5 and we are once again doing so with the aid of Chinese social media website, Weibo. Today, we’re looking at a post from a bit of a strange source. They apparently come from an Automotive Influencer called Chen Zhen who has 9.6M followers. How they ended up with the phone is hard to say, but one might assume that Oppo arranged such a thing to continue building hype. Not a terrible strategy.
Fascinatingly though, there was apparently some controversy over this after images were posted, with Zhen needing to clarify that the phone wasn’t his and that he hadn’t signed any NDAs.
Once again, we can see here that the device is remarkably thin. One thing to pay special attention to though is that camera bump. To my eye, it look remarkably similar to the current OnePlus Open or Find N3. Normally this wouldn’t be very impressive, but consider that this device damn near 2mm thinner than those phones and you might realize how impressive that is. Unless the camera hardware has also been shrunk down, it would be sticking out another 2mm from the back and it doesn’t.
Clearly, some hard work has been devoted to shrinking this hardware down. My only concern is to what degree this could negatively impact camera performance. We’ve long heard that this phone will use a triple-50MP camera setup, but that really doesn’t tell us much. One place there might be some changes will be with that periscope telephoto camera. There has been talk of Oppo/OnePlus using a different method get that light to the sensor vs last year.
We also have a post from known leaker Digital Chat Station which indicates that the Find N5 will indeed sport 50w wireless charging, 80w wired charging and would be less than 9.2mm when closed. This charging information confirms the earlier report from SmartPrix and also gives us another tantalizing hint as to how thin this thing will be. The current record holder for thinnest foldable is the Honor Magic V3 and it measures 9.3mm when closed, so this would eclipse that number.
