One UI 7 Isn’t Coming Anytime Soon..
As Google releases Android 16 Beta 2 many in the Samsung community are wondering where exactly Android 15 is. The much anticipated One UI 7, which launched on the S25 Series of devices is still nowhere to be seen and today we have update on just how much longer you’ll need to wait… And it’s not great news.
Not Coming Soon..
On the 13th of February a tweet was posted by @theonecid stating that One UI 7 would have a total of 6 betas, pushing the stable release all the way out to April. Shortly after that, @UniverseIce confirmed this timeline. Given how long Samsung users have already waited, being asked to wait another two months feels a bit insulting and that feeling is amplified by the fact that the S25 phones are already running One UI 7 quite happily. It’s not as if there have been major issues uncovered with these phones, prompting Samsung to delay, delay, delay. The growing suspicion among many on social media is that this is a thinly veiled strategy to sell more S25 phones.
Another aspect of this which stings is the fact that those of us who paid for a Galaxy Z Fold6 have not even had the ability to opt into the beta. The highest spending customers must apparently wait for the stable release to even try the new software.
Meanwhile, OEMs with questionable update track records like OnePlus have managed to deliver their Android 15 update months ago and it’s likely that Pixel devices will be running Android 16 stable right around the time Android 15 arrives for Samsung devices.
One UI 8?
One tiny glimmer of hope comes from @UniverseIce who states that One UI 8 should arrive earlier than normal - I should certainly hope so. Samsung does not want to fall into a pattern of being a full version behind Google on updates.
New Features
One UI 7 contains quite a few new features that I think warrant the level of expectation its receiving.
New Quick Settings
Quick Settings Split from Notifications
Rounded Notifications
Now Bar
Now Brief
AI Select
New Home Up features
And with all that, the animations have never looked smoother or more consistent. The entire interface just glides. Sadly, most of us will just have to keep waiting..
