Pixel 10 Leak Claims 60w Wireless Charging
Some of the leaks below line up with known information, some appears to be new. I cannot vouch for the provenance of this information and it should be taken with a grain of salt until it is better supported.
Now that we are roughly 6 months out from the Pixel 9 launch, it’s about time for the Pixel 10 leaks to begin. In this article we’re looking at a series of posts that come from the MysticLeaks Telegram channel.
Tensor G5
The Tensor G5 has long been hyped as Google’s first foray into the world of fully custom SOCs. It had been said that Google would be leaving Samsung Foundry behind and moving to TSMC for the production of the Tensor G5. In this leak, we get a slight pumping of the breaks.. User @romashkagene writes that the Tensor G5 is still based on Samsung’s Exynos processors, but will indeed be build on TSMC’s N3E node.
1x Cortex-X4 (3.4GHz)
5x Cortex-A725 (2.86GHz)
2x Cortex-A520 (2.25GHz)
ARM v9.2
Samsung S5400 Modem
GPU: PowerVR D-Series DXT-48-1536, clocked at 1.1GHz with Integrated Virtualization + Ray Tracing and FSR support
TPU: Improved version of EdgeTPU (18 / 9 TOPS), around 10-15% faster
Most of this appears to be pretty much what Android Authority reported back in October of 2024.
Compared to Tensor G4
As was stated back in October when most of this information surfaced, this looks like a fairly meager upgrade. The Prime core is clocked a bit faster, the Performance cores are upgraded to a newer model and they’re shifting to a new layout that uses 5 performance cores and 2 efficiency cores rather than 3 and 4. Each core cluster is also allegedly clocked a bit faster than last year, which could indicate better thermal management as well. It’s also worth noting that this new leak claims the modem will be staying the same, which isn’t really that bad considering how much better this new modem was in the Pixel 9. A large part of why the 9’s battery life was much improved was down to that new modem.
The use of TSMC’s N3E node is also notable as it should be a pretty big improvement. It’s also what Apple uses for their A18 chip. The Android Authority report also claimed that the Tensor G5 is quite a bit physically larger than Apples A18 Pro, measuring in at 121 mm^2 vs Apple’s 105 mm^2.
Exactly how what all this will mean for real world performance is hard to say.
Hardware
This is where things get a bit more interesting. This leak goes on to claim that the Pixel 9 will be sticking with 12GB RAM, upping the screen brightness to 2,000nits/3,000nits peak and possibly using a new CPS4041 chip that could enable 60w wireless charging with 20w reverse wireless charging. New Pixel Stand, anyone? They made no mention of wired charging speed.
Other small notes are the addition of 8K30 recording, external display supporting 4K60 and the same much improved ultrasonic fingerprint scanner being used again this year.
As I said in the header, take this stuff with a grain of salt.
