Pixel 11 Pro Fold Official Renders Leak
Even though the Pixel 11 event is August 12, you don't have to wait until then to see official images of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Evan Blass, one of the most renowned tech tipsters on planet Earth, has just sent these images out via his leak mail service, which you can sign up for to get leaks like this delivered directly to your email address. For this post, we're going to look at each one of these images one at a time, zoom in, pick them apart, and see exactly what there is to see.
The Big Changes
Looking at the first image of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold with Gemini Intelligence, we can immediately see that green color they are using once again. It is slightly different from last year's green, which really didn't look green and almost looked off-white most of the time, so if you actually wanted green, this is an improvement. The camera module looks completely different, extending the pills all the way out to the edge. We now have a bump on a bump situation going on, which makes you wonder if the body of the thing is actually getting a little bit slimmer. Physics are still physics, so the cameras end up just sticking out further, unlike the 10 Pro Fold which had a single bump. You do still have the power button and fingerprint scanner above the volume rocker, which is just a classic Pixel thing they do.
While the bezels on the 8-inch inner display look essentially exactly the same as they do now, the frame reveals that the speaker, the SIM tray, and the microphones have all shifted around. This means things have changed under the surface inside the device more so than the outside of the phone would lead you to believe.
Another closeup of the camera module completely confirms the rumors about Pixel Glow, showing that the multi-colored notification light is built right into the LED flash. Personally, putting a phone face down to use a light for notifications doesn't make a ton of sense when you can just flip it over and use the always-on display, but it will be interesting to see if it can be used as a colored floodlight. You can also see how far offset that telephoto lens is, sitting way off towards the middle.
Finally, we see the phone being used with Gemini, showing a normal glow around the outside of the screen, as well as a view of it running YouTube in flex mode. This is interesting because apparently the Galaxy Z Fold 8 hinge is not stiff anymore and won't stay at different angles quite as well, so Google is maintaining that flex mode support. According to an Amazon listing, the US model is staying at $1,899 and keeping 16GB of RAM, which is great news since there was talk it might drop down to 12GB like the Pro XL. Whether or not Google's software magic can hold up to the likes of the Moto Razer, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, or regional options from Oppo, Honor, and Xiaomi remains to be seen when the event takes place on August 12.
