Unboxing My First iPhone - iPhone Duo

After 37 years of strictly staying on the Android side of the fence, I finally pulled the trigger and unboxed my very first iPhone, and I did not pick a standard model to start with. I dove in headfirst to the top of Apple’s lineup with the iPhone Duo.

First Impressions of the Hardware

Holding the iPhone Duo in hand, the physical build feels exceptionally solid, though it carries noticeable weight compared to Samsung's latest foldable. The matte nano-texture inner screen stands out right away, dramatically cutting down reflection even if it introduces some interesting trade-offs with bright light diffusion. Little design choices like the staggered speaker placement actually pay off in a big way, delivering a wide, full stereo soundstage that beats out the one-sided setup on the Z Fold 8. On the flip side, the asymmetrical corner radii look a bit unusual in person, and the volume rocker placement on the top edge takes some getting used to.

iOS on a Foldable Curve

Transitioning straight into Apple's software on dual screens is where the real adjustment begins. Features like the persistent side-docking for system controls, the side-by-side multitasking gestures, and the way iOS handles closing the device without instantly locking it are all completely foreign compared to One UI. There are still plenty of things to figure out, from tweaking display settings to testing out new cases and screen protectors. This initial unboxing is just the start, so stay tuned as I spend more hands-on time testing out the cameras, performance, and daily usability to see if Apple's first foldable can take over as a main device.
