Dummy Units Confirm Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 8 Designs

We just got our first look at aluminum dummy units for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Z Fold 8 Wide, and the Z Flip 8. These blocks, shared by Sonny Dickson, are often used by case manufacturers to get a head start on production, and they offer a very clear look at the physical dimensions and layouts of the next generation of Samsung foldables.

For the most part, these units don't offer many shocks. We have seen plenty of renders and 3D prints over the last few months, and these metal dummies line up with those leaks perfectly. The proportions and camera placements match exactly what the rumors suggested, confirming that the overall design language is staying consistent with the direction Samsung has been heading.

The one detail that is actually sparking new conversation is the presence of large circular indentations on the back of each unit. This has led to immediate speculation that Samsung might finally be introducing a MagSafe clone to the Galaxy line. Having a magnetic mounting system built directly into the chassis would be a massive quality of life upgrade for people who want to use magnetic chargers, wallets, or car mounts without needing a specific case.

However, it is worth being cautious before assuming a magnetic ring is guaranteed. These circles are located exactly where the Qi wireless charging coils sit. It is possible that the dummy units simply include these markings to show case makers where to avoid using thick materials or metal reinforcements that would interfere with standard wireless charging. While a MagSafe style ring would be the more exciting "new" feature here, these markings might just be a functional guide for the internal charging hardware we already expect.

Beyond the magnetic mystery, the dummy units confirm three distinct models. The Fold 8 maintains its familiar profile, while the Fold 8 Wide appears to offer that extra screen real estate many have been asking for. The Flip 8 also keeps its compact footprint with the dual camera setup visible. These units suggest that Samsung is focusing more on refining the foldable experience and expanding the lineup rather than reinventing the wheel with a radical new look.
