New Leak Details Some Galaxy S25 AI Features
We already know quite a lot about the upcoming Galaxy S25 series of devices - screen sizes, RAM, SOC.. Heck we’ve seen photos of them at this point. Still, one thing has remained unclear; what are the new software features? As phones get faster and fast, perhaps well past the point of specs really even mattering, what you can actually do with the thing becomes more and more important. Luckily, today we have information on just that.
Via Tecnoblog, we have a series of leaked marketing materials that shed light on some of what will be new on your S25 phone. To be fair, the first image doesn’t really seem like anything new. It appears to depict Google’s Gemini being triggered with the user asking Gemini to “list the places mentioned” in a YouTube video and then save that as a note. Like I said, not new, but certainly something I have found myself using all the time. Make note of the mention of Samsung Notes at the bottom right though.. More on that in a bit.
The second image shows something called Now Brief which seems to give you a summary of your day. Up front you can see the weather with an energy score, likely pulled from a Galaxy Wearable. Behind that we see a box that says when the user is driving they often open maps and music and they have an option to do just that. You can also see it providing a coupon for a Latte. Lastly, you see an Evening Summary that is providing some memorable moments for reflection as well as a recap of their activity.
It seems like this Now Brief feature will tailor itself to what you’re doing at that time of day, trying to learn your patterns and provide value that way. Shades of Google Now.
Gemini Integration
If we turn our attention back the Google Gemini and to that mention of Samsung notes, things begin to take shape even more. In a recent Tweet from chunvn8888, we see that Gemini will have extensions allowing it to interface several apps on Samsung’s newest line of phones.
Samsung Calendar
Samsung Notes
Samsung Reminder
We also have a Tweet from Ice Universe that makes a pretty bold claim about how Gemini/Galaxy AI will work on theses devices. It’s hard to know for sure how all of this will work from this vague Tweet, but it’s clear that they are quite confident that Samsung’s implementation of Galaxy AI will be best in class allowing “cross-application and personal customization functions.” I’m reminded of a video I made speculating on something Google showed on stage a while back. They showed a user telling Gemini that they needed to return a pair of shoes. Gemini found the receipt in their Gmail, filled out a return form and then scheduled a pickup from UPS to get it sent back. I don’t think we’re talking about this advanced just yet, but we’re heading that way.
Again from Tecnoblog, we see images with some leaked specs that line up with what we’d already seen rumored. If you want to see it again, there it is.
One additional feature that Samsung made public themselves, is that their Sketch-to-Image feature will soon be going multi-modal - allowing users to generate images using both text and their sketches. We’ve also heard rumors that the S25 Ultra’s S Pen might be losing bluetooth connectivity.
