Pixel Fold Leaks Full Specs and a Name Change?

A flurry of new information has emerged regarding Google's next foldable, including a teaser video suggesting a possible name change, new Qi2 information and a major leak revealing its full specifications.

What’s in a Name?

The teaser video posted on the Made by Google YouTube channel and hints at a subtle tweaking to the Pixel Fold naming convention. As we all know, the first Pixel Fold was called just that and the sequel changed things up by being called Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Rather than addressing that awkward mouthful, it looks like Google might be happy to just move things around. The title of the video is “Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold | Stand the Line.”

Is this a typo or a name change? Your guess is as good as mine.

Qi2-Complaint or Just Ready?

Next up, we have some much needed clarification on the rumors of Qi2 Magnets being present in the Pixel Fold. Evleaks took to twitter stating “I can confirm that while the P10PF will indeed be Qi2-compliant, it will not be released until October 9th, alongside the PW4 and PB2a.”

According to 9to5Google, “Compliance and readiness are two different things.” Typically “ready” just means the device can fast charge, but without the built-in magnets. “Compliant” is reserved for devices that actually have the magnet built in. This suggests the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be the first major Android phone to include built-in magnetic charging hardware. While Qi2 can handle up to 25W, the phone is rumored to charge at a more conservative 15W. This new magnetic charging capability could pave the way for a new line of accessories from Google, reportedly to be called “Pixelsnap.”

Everything Else..

Roland Quandt from WinFuture is at it again, this time confirming the full spec sheet for the Pixel Pro 10 Fold, or whatever it’s called. This data allegedly comes from some an official spec sheet Roland got his hands on, so this should be accurate. While much of this is info we’ve had, there are some notable new tidbits.

What’s New?

Comparing this list to the rather long article I wrote the other day going over everything we knew about the Pixel Fold’s hardware, we can see that a few questions have been answered. First, we have confirmation that the inner screen can also hit 3000 nits. That is a very impressive number. In the camera section, we have a rather strange claim of not just 5x optical zoom, but also 10x optical zoom.. not digital? The Pixel Fold’s telephoto sensor has always been a 5x optical zoom and it appears to be again this year, so I’m not sure what Google could be meaning here.

One interesting and continued omission is Pixel Snap. We’ve seen leaked images of a Qi2 charging puck attached to the back of a Pixel 10, we’ve seen Pixel Snap mentioned on materials for the other Pixel 10s, but we’ve still never seen it mentioned in any way for the Fold. We have Even Blass saying the Fold is Qi2 compliant and we think that means the magnet is there, but that remains the only thing we have. Strange.
