These Might Be the USD Z Fold 8 Prices

About one week ago, European pricing leaks surfaced for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, leaving many of us wondering how those figures would translate into US dollars. It is tempting to do a straight currency conversion, but that never works out accurately due to European value-added tax (VAT) and differing market economies.

Looking at historical patterns, US pricing typically lands around $100 lower than the numerical Euro figure. Based on that trend, a previous breakdown of the European leaks pointed to a likely US starting price of $1899 for the base Galaxy Z Fold 8 and $2099 for the Z Fold 8 Ultra.

New Leaks Back Up US Price Predictions

A fresh report matching those exact expectations has just emerged. According To a report from SamMobile detailing the US price leak, which cites Korean outlet SE Daily, the US pricing looks to be locked in. The base Galaxy Z Fold 8 with 256 GB of storage is listed at $1899, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra with 256 GB of storage is positioned at $2099.

While SE Daily is not the most widely known source, meaning we should keep a pinch of salt handy, the numbers align perfectly with the economic realities of Samsung's historical pricing.

The baseline memory configuration for the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to start at 12 GB of RAM for the $1899 entry price. For the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the $2099 entry tier also gives you 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM, though it is highly likely we will see that jump up to 16 GB of RAM if you step up to the higher storage capacities.

One UI 9 and Gemini Intelligence

The leak also notes that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup will be the first to ship with One UI 9 and Google's Gemini Intelligence right out of the box.

Gemini Intelligence, which Google showcased at Google I/O, moves past basic question-and-answer interactions. It has the ability to reach directly into your apps to perform tasks. For example, if you ask it to find concert tickets, it can access the relevant app and pull them up automatically.

It also brings advanced autofill capabilities, allowing the AI to fill out complex forms or pull up documents like a digital passport in seconds. For custom widget enthusiasts, Gemini can even generate custom, glanceable information widgets on the fly. Some users will find this level of integration incredibly convenient, while others might view it as a bit too invasive.

The Reality of the Crease

Rumors have circulated claiming that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a completely invisible crease, but hands-on reports from those testing the device suggest otherwise.

The hardware iteration is a step forward, but it is not completely flat. Multiple sources I’ve spoken to who have seen the device compare the crease to the Motorola Razr Plus. It is an improvement over previous Samsung foldables, meaning you will have to actively look for it when the screen is turned on, but it does not reach the near-invisible level of devices like the Oppo Find N6.

Is This a Hidden Price Hike?

At first glance, a $1899 price point makes it look like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is $100 cheaper than the $1999 Galaxy Z Fold 7. The reality is that Samsung is shifting its branding structure.

The true hardware successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is actually the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is getting a $100 price bump to $2099. The base Z Fold 8 is a different tier of device, featuring a shorter, passport-style form factor and missing the telephoto camera lens entirely.

This positioning might be an attempt to compete with Apple's future foldable plans. If Apple launches a foldable device without a telephoto lens at a high price point, Samsung can position the base Z Fold 8 as a lower-cost alternative while using the Ultra model to match Apple's pricing but offer a more robust hardware package.

For buyers looking for a clean multitasking experience with stylus compatibility without paying the premium for the Ultra, existing market alternatives around the $1899 mark might still offer a compelling choice.
