Unihertz Reveal Titan 2 Elite Colrs, New Cursor Feature

Unihertz is clearly onto something with the Titan 2 Elite because the early buzz is louder than with any product they’ve released before. Engagement on their latest teasers is tracking nearly thirty times higher than what we saw with the original Titan 2, and after seeing the latest footage, it is easy to understand why. The device is undergoing a significant design shift, moving away from the bulkier, squared-off look of the previous generation in favor of something much more refined.

The most obvious change is the physical footprint. Unihertz managed to shrink the device in every single dimension, making it shorter, narrower, and even a hair thinner than the original model. It is a much more pocketable machine now, but they haven't sacrificed the hardware to get there. In fact, they finally ditched the old LCD panels for a 120Hz AMOLED display with a hole-punch selfie camera, which is a huge step up for a keyboard-focused phone.

On the back, the quirky rear display from the Titan 2 is officially gone. In its place is a clean, horizontal camera bar that looks a lot like what you’d see on a modern Google Pixel. This bar houses two sensors, and while the hardware itself is likely similar to the Titan 2’s 50MP setup, the new layout feels much more intentional. They are also playing around with some great new colors, including a "burnt orange" that looks fantastic and gives the phone a premium, modern edge.

Perhaps the coolest update is what they’ve done with the keyboard functionality. While the original Titan 2 allowed for some basic swiping and tapping, the Elite is adding a proper touchpad mode with a visible cursor. This means you can swipe across the physical keys to move a cursor around the screen, allowing you to interact with apps and menus at the top of the display without having to reach up and touch the glass. It is a clever way to leverage the physical keyboard for more than just typing, and it should make one-handed use a lot more viable. Review units are expected to start rolling out in late March or April, so we won't have to wait much longer to see if the software can keep up with this improved hardware.
