Galaxy Z Fold 8 Finally Sees Charging Speed Bump

A new leak from SammyGuru has just provided a major update on Samsung's next generation of foldables, and it confirms a long awaited upgrade for the two upcoming Z Fold 8 models. This information comes directly from the Chinese 3C regulatory database and focuses on two specific model numbers: SM-F9760 and SM-F9710.

These numbers line up perfectly with what we already know about the Z Fold 8 development cycle. The "F9" prefix is the classic identifier for the Fold series, and seeing these two distinct paths helps add a lot of credibility to the idea that we are getting two very different devices this time around.

45W Charging is Finally Here

For years, Samsung has played it safe with 25W charging on its foldables. While the S-series flagships moved up to 45W, the Fold was left behind. These new regulatory filings show that both the Z Fold 8 and the rumored "Wide Fold" are listed with support for 45W wired charging. This is a huge win for anyone who uses their Fold as a primary productivity device and needs to top off quickly during the day.

When you combine this 45W charging news with recent reports from Digital Chat Station, the power situation for 2026 is looking much better. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to jump to a 5,000 mAh battery, while the Wide Z Fold 8 is rumored to feature a 4,800 mAh dual-cell setup. Both of these are a solid step up from the 4,400 mAh capacity we saw on the Fold 7. While the Wide model has a slightly smaller battery than the standard version, the shorter screen real estate might mean that 4,800 mAh actually goes further than expected. If we can get a more usable screen paired with 45W charging and these larger capacities, the Z Fold 8 generation might be a decent leap from the Fold 7.

One of the most interesting details in this leak is that the SM-F9760 (the standard Fold 8) is specifically listed as a "Satellite mobile terminal." This suggests that dedicated satellite connectivity is finally coming to the flagship foldable. Curiously, the second model number, SM-F9710, is lacking that specific designation. It is worth noting that last year Samsung included satellite functionality on the W26, which is the luxury Chinese version of the Fold 7. This certification could mean that satellite connectivity is finally becoming a standard feature for the main Z Fold line, or it might remain a regional exclusive for the China market.

The appearance of SM-F9710 again reinforces the "H8" project rumors we have been tracking. This is the device enthusiasts are calling the "Wide Fold." While the standard Fold 8 (Q8, SM-F9760) will likely keep the familiar tall and narrow footprint, the Wide Fold is expected to adopt a shorter, wider aspect ratio. This would make the front screen feel like a mini smartphone and give the inner display a wider, close to 4:3 canvas. It is a strategy that seems designed to compete directly with the upcoming Apple iPhone Fold rumored to be coming this year.
