How to Install Pixel 11’s Rambler on Any Android Phone
A few days ago, I talked about apps like Wispr Flow and Whisperian, which bring Pixel-style voice typing to other devices. While those are quick installs from the Play Store, the comments, emails and Discord messages flooded in telling me to try a different method using an app called Morph.
Morph works a lot like YouTube ReVanced. It lets you patch existing apps, and in this case, we are patching Gboard to fully unlock Google's Rambler voice typing on basically any Android phone.
Setting Up Sideloading Permissions
Because this involves sideloading, you need to allow your phone to install apps from your browser. Long press your browser icon, tap the app info icon, scroll to Install Unknown Apps and toggle it to allow.
Samsung users have one extra step. Open your system settings, head into Security and Privacy and make sure Auto Blocker is toggled off, otherwise it will block the installation entirely.
Installing Morph and Adding the Gboard Patches
Head over to morphe.software, download the Morph APK and install it.
Next, open the GitHub repository for the Gboard patches. You can add this repository as a source in Morph either by scanning the QR code on the page or by manually copying the URL listed under install into the app. Once added, Gboard will show up inside Morph as a patchable option.
Downloading the APK and Patching Gboard
Tap Gboard inside Morph. You need the base installation file, which you can get manually from APKMirror or simply by tapping the “help me find an APK” button inside Morph. That will take you directly to the correct Gboard download page.
Grab the APK, head back to Morph and select the downloaded file to start the patching process. Morph will apply the necessary modifications and create a standalone installer. This installs alongside your standard Gboard rather than replacing it, meaning official Play Store updates will not mess up your patched version.
Once the patches finish, hit install. Grant Morph the permission to install unknown apps if prompted. If Google Play Protect warns you that it has not seen the app before, you can safely scan it or choose to install anyway.
Enabling Rambler in Settings
Open the newly installed Gboard app, enable it in your system settings and set it as your default keyboard.
Inside the app settings, scroll down to the bottom and select Patches. Head into AI and Voice, open Advanced Voice Typing and turn it on. You should also toggle on the option to support all keyboards for AI writing tools just to ensure full compatibility. Go back to Voice Typing, and you will see the toggle for Rambler ready to switch on.
If the microphone icon does not immediately show the AI badge when you open a text field, force stop the patched Gboard app through your phone's app settings, open it again and select it as the active input method.
Why Rambler Is Worth the Trouble
Rambler automatically removes pauses, fixes punctuation, handles capitalization and tidies up your speech so the final text reads cleanly. Testing this on a Galaxy phone showed that it catches hyphens and complex sentence structures easily without requiring manual cleanups afterward.
It takes a couple more steps than simply downloading an app from the Play Store like Wispr Flow or Whisperian, but the patching process only takes a few minutes. If you want top tier, hands-free dictation on hardware that Google does not officially support, this setup delivers.
