Leaked Retailer Price Reveals Motorola Razr Flex Launch Range
A recent European retail listing might have given us our best look yet at what Motorola is planning to charge for the upcoming Razr Flex in the US market. Portuguese retailer megapc.pt appears to have gotten a bit ahead of themselves, briefly putting up listings for the unannounced device alongside Motorola's next traditional flagship.
The retailer had the Razr Flex listed for €1,510.90 in two color options: Pantone Coriander and Dark Botanical Garden. For those tracking Motorola's Pantone partnerships, these essentially break down to an earthy tan and a deep, dark green. These exact colorway names line up directly with the earlier leak reports from Android Headlines, giving even more credibility to the idea that these retail databases are actively being prepared for launch.
To figure out what this actually means for the US market, we have to look back at how Motorola priced the Razr Fold when it launched in Europe compared to what we ended up paying state-side.
When the Razr Fold hit the market, evaluating the true launch price had a bit of extra context attached because of European promo bundles. In Europe and the UK, Motorola ran an initial launch promotion where they knocked £250 off the sticker price and bundled in a full ecosystem kit, including a speaker, a smartwatch, and the Moto Buds 2 Pro. Over in the US, the phone shipped with an included stylus pen right out of the box instead of that large accessory bundle. Once all those initial launch promotions and bundle deals wrapped up, the baseline retail sticker prices settled at €1,999.99 in Europe and $1,899.99 in the US. Once you strip out European taxes and account for standard regional pricing structures, Motorola's €1,999 standard baseline mapped directly over to that $1,899 baseline in the US.
That brings us back to what this new Razr Flex is actually going to offer hardware-wise. The reported specs line up with the idea that Motorola is intentionally dialing back a few high-end components to deliver a more compact, passport-style foldable. Instead of maxing out specs, we are looking at a slightly smaller display footprint, a drop from 16GB of RAM down to 12GB, 256GB of base storage instead of starting at 512GB, and one fewer rear camera by dropping the dedicated telephoto lens.
When rumors first started floating around before the Razr Fold officially dropped, early reports suggested Motorola was aggressively targeting a $1,500 price point for their larger foldable. Obviously, that did not happen. Supply chain pressures, rising display costs, and skyrocketing RAM and storage prices forced Motorola to launch the device at $1,899 instead.
Now, with the Razr Flex, it looks like Motorola is finally getting another shot at hitting that original target. If this new retail leak follows the exact same trajectory as the Razr Fold, where a €1,999 European price translated to an $1,899 US MSRP, a €1,510 listing points heavily toward a US price right around $1,499. Depending on how aggressively Motorola wants to price this passport form factor, we could even see them push it down another $100 to $1,399, making it a very compelling mid-tier entry in the foldable space.
