One UI 8.5's Quick Panel is Getting a Major Redesign

Samsung's Quick Panel has recently offered a degree of customization, allowing users to rearrange toggles and adjust their quick settings. However, recent leaks from One UI 8.5 firmware files suggest the upcoming update will give users unprecedented control, pushing customization to an entirely new level.

According to Tweets from @wr3cckl3ss1, the new update could introduce a completely customizable control panel. This isn't just about moving icons; it's about a complete free-form experience. Users may soon be able to change the position and size of individual toggles like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Mobile Data. Even more exciting, you might be able to remove entire sections or persistent toggles you never use, such as those for SmartThings or Smart View.

This change could be inspired by the changes Google made with Material 3 Expressive. That update allows users to freely resize and rearranged quick settings toggles on Pixel devices and this seems to take that idea and slap typical Samsung sensibilities onto it. As you can see, most quick settings toggles and sliders appear able to be moved, but the small icons themselves might only be movable, not expandable.

This move would be the biggest change to the Quick Panel in years. While these features are from early builds and could change before the final release, it’s a promising sign that Samsung is listening to users who want more control over their device's interface. Get ready to create a Quick Panel that is uniquely yours!
