Oppo Find N5’s Waterproofing Demonstrated Via Underwater Photography

Oppo’s trickle of details on the Find N5 continues today as we have another post on Weibo, this time showing off something a bit unexpected - waterproofing.

In the video, Yibao is shown casually holding a Find N5 underwater, but apparently that just wasn’t deep enough to prove the point. They show the device being used fully underwater, going so far as to film with it while totally submerged at depths of 6-8 meters, showing off an IPX9 rating.

For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has an IP48 rating which means that it can withstand being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes and it can resist solids that are 1 millimeter or larger. While the Find N5 has no dust rating (let’s be honest, 1mm particles aren’t dust either), it does step the water resistance up to a 9. This is the highest level of protection against water, meaning the device can withstand powerful, high-pressure, and high-temperature water jets from various angles. For a foldable, this is extremely impressive.

Throw in the rumored Titanium alloy frame and you’ve got a device that might manage to be the world’s thinnest and durable.

Of course the Oppo find N5 is expected to be the sister device to OnePlus's Open 2 and both of these devices are expected to be unveiled sometime around the month of February, 2025.
