Oppo Find N7 Might Be the Wide Foldable of Your Dreams
The Oppo Find N6 is easily one of the best folding phones available right now, if not the absolute best. Oppo managed to do something incredible with that device, creating a seamless hinge that practically erases the screen crease, both when you look at it and when you run your finger across it. It is a masterclass in foldable engineering.
Yet, I didn't buy one. Part of the reason was that I found myself way more interested in testing out the latest clamshell layout of the Razr Fold, but another big factor was the rumor mill. We had already started hearing whispers that the Oppo Find N7 wasn't too far off, and more importantly, that it would finally pivot to a wider aspect ratio.
Now, courtesy of a new leak from prominent tipster Digital Chat Station, we have some concrete details on exactly what Oppo is cooking up for this next generation.
Embracing the Wide Form Factor
The biggest news here is that this leak once again affirms the shift to a wider format. The details point to an engineering prototype that moves away from narrower dimensions and fully embraces a wider footprint when closed. We are looking at a 7.5 to 7.6-inch inner main screen and a 5.5-inch outer cover display.
These dimensions suggest a much shorter, squatter passport-style design, a massive departure from the taller 20:9 screens we've seen on recent book-style foldables. It actually draws close structural comparisons to rumored dimensions for the upcoming wide version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. Oppo is reportedly sourcing these panels from Samsung Display and BOE.
If you thought the Find N6 screen was smooth, Oppo is looking to push things even further. The leak mentions that the Find N7 will utilize a next-generation seamless hinge design. The goal is to deliver an implementation that outperforms anything currently on the market, aiming for a completely imperceptible crease. Interestingly, the report notes that this specific display solution shares similarities with how Apple is tracking to handle its own future foldable screens.
Massive Battery and Flagship Hardware
Unlike earlier whispers that left us guessing on the internal specs, the latest details lay out a powerhouse of a spec sheet. The device is expected to feature a massive 6000mAh battery, a huge capacity for a foldable, and it thankfully includes wireless charging support.
The camera housing is getting a visual refresh too, moving to a minimalist racetrack-shaped oval module. Inside that module, Oppo is packing a serious 200MP imaging system.
On the performance side, this won't just be a minor iterative refresh. The Find N7 is tipped to run on a next-generation SoC, expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor built on a cutting-edge 2nm process. This chipset should bring massive efficiency gains to complement that 6000mAh cell.
For daily usability, the phone will feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, top-tier maximum-level waterproofing, and support for dedicated productivity accessories.
The Waiting Game
All of these premium features mean Oppo is positioning this as an ultra-high-end device targeting the 10,000 yuan price bracket. As for the timeline, the latest intel points to a launch in the first quarter of 2027, which lines up with the March launch window Oppo used for the previous generation.
It means a bit of a wait, but if Oppo can deliver a wider screen with a 200MP camera, a 6000mAh battery, and a truly flawless, creaseless display, it might just be the foldable to beat.
