5 Google Pixel Features They Should Have Never Abandoned
As a long-time enthusiast of Google's Pixel smartphones, dating back to the Pixel 2 XL, I've witnessed a significant evolution in these devices. Having owned a considerable number of Pixels over the years, I've noticed the gradual disappearance of certain software features and design choices that I truly miss. In this article, I'll delve into my top five Pixel features that I miss the most.
Google Releases Likely Final Android 15 Update to Pixel Devices
With Google’s I/O event coming in just a couple short weeks, and likely bringing Android 16 along with it, there was some question as to whether or not Google would deliver a May update for Pixel devices. Somewhat surprisingly, Pixel devices are indeed getting a small patch with a handful of bug fixes just before that likey ANdroid 16 release. Here’s what’s new and what to do if you’re on the 16 beta.
Android’s Hidden Desktop Mode Gets BIG Upgrade
For years, the promise of a true desktop experience powered by Android has lingered, often feeling like a half-forgotten experiment. While Samsung's DeX and Motorola's ReadyFor have offered functional solutions, Google's own efforts to build a robust desktop mode within Android have remained in the realm of developer tools. As I discussed in my article and video back in March, this feature has technically been present since Android 10 in 2019, but its utility for the average user has been virtually nonexistent.

There’s also Gemini Live though. This option, hidden behind an icon on the bottom right, allows users to begin a very natural conversation with Gemini. You just talk to it like it’s a person. You can even interrupt its response to ask a follow-up question or divert the conversation somewhere else.

Pixel 10 Camera Leak Reveal Questionable Downgrades..
When the renders for the Google Pixel 10 Series of phones first leaked there was one detail that stood out above the rest. The base model Pixel 10 quite clearly featured a periscope telephoto camera which it had never had in the past. That telephoto camera had always been one of the primary ways Google differentiated the base model from the Pro and Pro XL models.
Because of this, there was a ton of speculation. How would Google differentiate the Base from the Pro now? Would the Pixel 10’s telephoto be a downgraded version? If so, how bad will it be? Now, thanks to Android Authority, we seem to have answers to these questions.
